Namaste dear Kailashis,

As you all know Karnataka Government has announced to give a subsidy of Rs:30,000/- per yatri (as of 2016, the year of my travel) for 1st-time visitors to Kailash Mansarovar who's domicile is Karnataka and particularly passport issued in Karnataka region ONLY.

Kindly do check the endowments board office for any updates in the amount disbursed and procedure.

I have visited Kailash Mansarovar by the grace and help of Lord Shiva and after coming back I applied to the government for subsidy.

My route was Lipulekh Pass and I think even for Nathu-La pass the procedure is more or less the same except for the Immigration seal which happens in Sherathang.

Not many are familiar with the procedure and process of applying for subsidy and to facilitate them I've written this blog where you can get a fair idea on how to obtain the subsidy.

Firstly, you should apply to the government with all supporting document photocopies within 3 months of yatra completion.

Documents to be provided are as follows,

  1. Application form obtained from the government.
  2. Photocopy of front and back pages of the passport.
  3. Photocopy of immigration seal page at Kalapani.
  4. Photocopy of MEA Yatra Completion certificate.
  5. Photocopy of ID card received from MEA.
  6. Photocopy of Chinese certificate of Mansarovar trek completion.
  7. Photocopy of the group Chinese visa.
  8. Photocopy of $ 901 payment to Chinese Government receipt.
  9. Photocopy of visa payment receipt.
  10. Photocopy of Mansarovar tickets given by the Tibetan tour guide at Taklakot.
  11. Photocopy of the list of yatris in that particular batch.
  12. Blank cancelled cheque leaf to which the subsidy will be credited.
  13. Affidavit self-attested (Rs:20/- value e-stamp paper and the format will be given by the Endowment Board Office.)

Timings to submit the documents to the govt office is between 3PM - 5PM.

Make sure you take a photocopy of your application form to get an acknowledgement back.

And also carry all original documents along with Original passport for verification.

Address of the Office where all the above documents need to be submitted.

Update: As received via email from Mr Bharath Chandrashekhar.

So as expected it is a lottery system for about 1500 applicants and it is open since 7th November.

The application can now be submitted online too along with requisite documents scanned and uploaded appropriately. Alternatively they can be submitted at the office physically. However they ask the applicants to hand over the documents physically within 5 days after applying online, I have no clue why!
